Leading North West events management company Gemini International joined forces with soccer legend Ossie Ardiles to raise awareness of a major global football programme.
Alastair Cotton, Gemini International’s sales support director travelled to Johannesburg in South Africa – to the world-renowned Soccerex international convention – with World Cup winner Ardiles to promote the Special Olympics Global Football programme.
Gemini International of Congleton, Cheshire, is lending its expertise to the cause, working with some of the biggest names in football and business to help the scheme take off.
The Special Olympics Global Football initiative has been developed to address the problem that, while most children grow up with an opportunity to play football, youngsters with intellectual disabilities often miss out.
Special Olympics Global Football tackles the problem head on, and is being developed under the banner of the International Olympic Committee, with the aim of getting 500,000 youngsters with intellectual disabilities playing the game by 2011.
It is supported by football’s governing bodies FIFA, UEFA and CONMEBOL, and ambassadors include the internationally famous Inter Milan club, David Beckham’s LA Galaxy and Brazilian superstar Kaka.
In South Africa, Alastair and Ossie met soccer stars including former England captain Bryan Robson, South Africa International and Leeds United legend Lucas Radebe and the 2007 women’s World Footballer of the Year Marta Vieira da Silva of Brazil.
Alastair said: “It was fantastic to have the opportunity to travel to South Africa and promote such a worthwhile international organisation alongside Ossie Ardiles, who is co-Chairman of the Special Olympics Global Football movement, and its managing director Michael Smith.
“We were able to highlight the Special Olympics Global Football initiative to a wide variety of potential supporters and start talks with companies and organisations well-placed to help raise its profile across the globe.”

charles woodson is beast too bad michigan sucks now
For those of us who can actually really remember that season and his whole career, Charles Woodson was one of the most dominant defensive players i have ever seen. He took half the field away. And most of his big plays came in the biggest games. I’m a Steeler fan but Charles Woodson is in my top 10 favorite athletes
I like Charles but no way he should have been the Defensive Player of the Year. Darrelle Revis is the best cona in the History of the NFL. No cona eva in they career shutdown receivers like he has in his 3 year career. It’s all good tho cuz Revis is going for that ring. GO J.E.T.S !!!
i have watched every game that michigan has played since 1993 give or take a few and the last few years have been pretty rough but in 1997 that was some of the best football i’ve seen a TEAM play ever. and to anyone who isn’t educated on charles woodson, he was voted to the all-time team for college football so recognize.
Damn, I had no idea Charles Woodson was this fucking raw in college. Man, going both ways like that and dominating. It seemed liked he had a gamebreaker play in every game. At the same time this video is sick because it reminds me of the 90′s.
3:47 mang… he pulled some Matrix shit.

Lol “he has no idea that charles woodson can jump 15 feet in the air” lmao god damn what an athlete
love woodson. my fav player. he’s why i became a michigan fan back in 97 growing up as a kid. he was a BEAST back in the day. and is the best in the nfl right now.
