SPEECH-Good morning Dante family! My name is Carolina Lopes and as you already know, I am here to represent myself in this race for student council president. I believe that I make a good candidate for president. I believe that I can represent all of you well. I believe I am all that makes a good leader, responsible, energetic and kind. Why am I running? Easy. I am here for my family. My Dante Family. I am here for all of you. I am here to give back to the school and the school community.

Can you believe that it has been almost three months since the first day? It felt that just last week we had entered this school, filled with anticipation and excitement for the first time as Dante students. It wasn’t long ago that we put on our uniform, took a deep breath, and made our way here. Look how far we’ve come! Look at where we stand today! We’ve made new friends, gained new knowledge and grown so much in the last three months. Who do we owe? We owe each other and our amazing teachers and staff. Thank-You so much.

As a family, we all try to do our best in our own way to give back somehow by succeeding in work, or joining a sports teams or clubs. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the girls B-Ball team and the boys Soccer team, you guys did AMAZING. Together we make our school what it is. Together we have already made our mark in the Dante community.

I believe that this is my chance to give back to our great school. Vote me as President and we can work together towards even greater accomplishments. I am 100% committed to your needs. You can count on me to be there. Not just for meetings but for everything. I’m here for you guys. Isn’t that what a good leader does? I’m here to support you guys. If you have any ideas feel free to tell me. Its about US! This is OUR school. This school belongs to all of us and what you guys have to say, COUNTS.

If I am elected into office, I will go above and beyond to get you what you want. As President, I will come up with fun events that everyone will enjoy. Talent night, pajama days, a wake-a-thon, fashion shows, dance offs, Rock Band/Guitar Hero competitions, crazy hair days, and a Multicultural night with the main feature being a Fifa 2010 representative competition where students come in their jersey and represent their country in a Fifa PS3 soccer game are just somethings that I have in mind.

Right now I am trying out for the track team. I’m not sure if I made it yet-but I’m trying! If I don’t make it that won’t discourage me from trying out for other teams. I’m committed and I don’t give up easily. This is one of the messages that I would like to deliver to you today and hopefully as President. Don’t give up! We are a family! If we all give up so easily where would we stand today? We would be broken apart. That is not a family. Dante wouldn’t be as successful as it is today. If I’m elected I’m here for you guys, not only with school stuff but with advice. I’m here for you! If you need a shoulder to cry on, I’m here for you. I am truly committed to our school.

The 19th FIFA World Cup is taking place in 2010. South Africa is where the World Cup is to be hosted this year. As South Africa is hosting the cup in 2010 there has been a lot of talk that this may not be the best choice. Every 4 years the FIFA cup is held. Every 4 years is also how often the Olympic Games are held, from all over the world countries compete in this amazing world sporting event.

In 2007 the qualification process took place for this years soccer cup. The qualifications for this years cup took place in August 2007 and there were 204 FIFA national teams competing.
Very close to the Summer Olympics in numbers are the number of competing nations in this world event. Playing in group C, the USA team has qualified for this event.

On American sporting life soccer has not had such a huge impact, over the years the sport has grown more popular. Known as CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) the USA team is ranked first. Ranking in the top 20 in the world is where the the United States national soccer team is placed.

For the 2010 world soccer cup, Group C is where the United States have ended up. The following countries are playing in Group C: England, Slovenia, Algeria and the United States. The USA and England are the strongest of these i believe. In 2010, England could win the cup, it is thought by some.

The following is how the United States schedule will look. On 12th of June 2010, they will be competing against England. They are up against Slovenia on the 18th of June 2010. On the 23rd of June 2010, United States will compete against Algeria. Whether they can progress through this group C is the question now being asked. It is very exciting to see what will happen in this exciting group as they also have England to compete with.

Newly designed soccer jerseys are being sported by teams like the USA. Soccer jerseys are on sale to the general public so they can show support to their country, and have been
designed by many famous manufacturers such as Nike and Adidas. They all look great and each country have both home and away designs. Anyone who supports the USA team should get one of the new jerseys that have come out as they look stunning, and they have a great design.

We make 6 teams (more if we get more users) with captains, their own team names, jersey colors..etc. and a match is played…i will be the one who does match details commentary…
this was previous played but consisted of only 2 teams, and eventually died so early because that was it..now we need to re-live this nice game and make it into a bigger tournament..
